Yes, we spent the last three days in Rovinj and also stopped in Poreč on the way back. Both, Rovinj and Poreč, are just two of really lovely old cities along Croatian Mediterranean coast. Old, little, charming, with a lot of history and culture. I was really suprised to find - thanks to our kind host, The Mysterious Mr. J. - a lot of old Roman stuff in Poreč.
But the highlight of the past few days were surely the dolphins. A big pod was traveling along the beach, but - unfortunately - they were swimming rather in the distance, so some fins was all that I was able to catch. This was the second time for me to see dolphins in nature. It was..... I'll say.... strong.

(L) Life at close. (R) Rovinj at night.

Poreč - Euphrasius Basilica (4th century): (L) Looking up. (R) Looking down.

(L) T&J (R) The oldest house (Romanic, 13th century) in Poreč.

(L) Prince of Venice they call it. (R) Vivid night life on the streets of Poreč.

I rode that boat a couple of times a few years ago, now it was just standing there. It used to make journeys from Slovene coastal town Portoroz to Venice - that's when I did it.

Night life..... those Mediterranean cities are really interesting. In the evening - when it gets a bit cooler - everybody comes out for a stroll in the streets. Just looking around, talking, having simple fun. I like it like that.

And that's a lovely userpic. :)

Come here, Adam, and we'll go. We'll sit on the beach, talk, just feel comfortable and wait for the dolphins.

That boat looks AMAZING!

Oh, and I am SOOO taking you up on a "Dolphin Cruise" in Forster when you come to Australia!

Or to Sea World on the Gold Coast where you can swim with their dolphins...

Or to Monkey Mia in Western Australia, where the WILD dolphins swim up to the crowd wading in the water, and you can interact with them.

You would LOVE it - as would I, of course! :-)

Poreč--another fascinating town! I am intrigued by the 13th century house, the old beautiful streets, and your hints of Roman remains...
