Young Eyes

Ok, I was babbling about covers that make me tick. Ok, they at least managed to do it today. I think it's about high time to squeeze in some Slovene "culture" in LJ. The song I was writing about was Mlade oči - Young Eyes. The original was done in 1973 - and sounds accordingly. Singer is Ditka Haberl, one of the nicest voices of that time. And the cover version is very fresh. It's 2008 thing, sung by charming Severa Gjurin. I like that girl's mellow voice whereas Ditka's original features really clear vocal. Ok, enough with the shit. And I am also providing the translation of the lyrics, because they are simple and short. And, at least to me, appealing. :)

Clicking the links will open a music file - they are not small and they will open depending on your settings. I think. LOL

Mlade oči - Young Eyes

Our young eyes are looking
Into the world that doesn't even exist.
World with the sky of love
Full of stars shining just for those young eyes.
Your look into my eyes,
sets our bodies on eternal flame.
Young eyes are bright lights,
That turn long nights into days.
And the joy and the laughter in these eyes
bring out cheerful and hearty days.
Young eyes are eyes,
Full of flaming light of spring.
And I'd believe all, really all
to these young eyes and good people.

I think I preferred the lighter, bouncier 70s version.

I second that one! It's just that the cover version is not disgusting or totally ruining the song. Which happens often. :)

My humble opinion
Severa has wonderfull husky voice. Ditka is something completely different. Both fantastic singers. Respect!
