T-F-GIF, that's more or less all I can say about work this week. It was really exhausting and now I need to do the part I probably hate the most. I need to immerse myself in 25 reports, I need to think what my 25 "slaves" were doing last month and I need to come up with 25 grades, which will of course sometimes later on transform into 25 sums of euros, as extra money to salaries. Well...... I'll manage. Somehow.

Anyway, away with the work. I went to the store in the morning to buy some strawberries and grape for our morning meeting - munching something good pulls annoying meetings into a much nicer area - I noticed a funny little tree stuck between all the fruit. I just had to check what that was and - surprise - it's a special basilica; one of my favourite herbs. Of, course I had to buy little El Greco as they call it. It's funny and it really has surprisingly powerful scent. YAY!

Remakes... incidentally I came across a few cover versions of tunes I originally don't/didn't dig at all. The first of them is Umbrella. That Riha-iha-iha-iha-nnah chick really annoyed the shit out of me, but what Manic Street Preachers did, really appeals to me. Then there's that poor (LIVE) Britney (ALONE!!!) Spears... Although I have to admit Toxic video seemed good to me, it's still a very poorly sung piece. But... a version of Toxic, done by Israelian Yael Naim (thanks,

djmadadam for pointing your finger at her :)) is really worth listening to. And then there's one Slovene song - give its VERY limited audience I will just say it's a beautiful version of already beautiful song. Mlade oči (Young Eyes) - original by Ditka Haberl, cover by Severa Gjurin. Maybe, just maybe I will provide the links to these songs as I get home. If you feel like listening to a song with lyrics which just won't make any sense. LOL

And here it is.... today's grin with El Greco.

UPDATE:::::::: 20.04pm and I am going home and this is the sky of the moment. After some sun, a lot of rain and then some sun again. Office, be gone for nine whole days!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!

There are a few fantastic covers of Toxic. One by The Chapin Sisters and another by Mark Ronson (who is obsessed with cover songs). Curiously enough, I've met all of these artists and complimented them on their covers in person. I also like the original of Toxic a lot, but when I met Britney's brother I didn't bring it up.

There is also a good cover of the song "Since You Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson (did that song ever make it to Slovenia?) by a singer called Ted Leo.

Oh also I just saw a "rock" version of Umbrella that Rihanna did with The Klaxxons. It kind of redeemed the song for me.

Thank you for running through the raindrops to meet me. I can't believe I got to see you twice today considering there are people who would kill for the chance to see you just once. ;) Lucky me. :)

Lep vikend!

*writes all these titles and artists down*

Guess my internet will be busy tonight - when I actually manage to crawl back home. UGH!

Yes, it was really good seeing you today, C! I just hope to have more time next time. Sorry I only had 30 mins, but today is really not a good day to fool around LOL

Would anybody actually kill to see me? LOL That's the best compliment I got today. :)

as for people killing to see you, believe me. i can imagine the death match even now. i will just get out of the way and let the boys get to the fighting! ;)

You won't belive, but me too adore basil. Every year I have at least 10 - 15 plants of it on the balcony. Last year even the kind you discovered today. Are we clones or what??

I guess I missed this post during one of my recent LJ dry spells :o\ Would you believe I STILL haven't purchased the Yael Naim album? Money's tight. BTW, I believe she's French (perhaps Israeli-born, or just of Jewish descent).
Jun. 11th, 2008 06:25 am (UTC)
I stand corrected.

"Yael Naïm was born in Paris in 1978 to French and Tunisian, Sephardi-Jewish parents."

And some songs on that CD are really great! :)
