Just an F-Blog #48. Veneto.

What a lovely weekend this was... Andrea invited Iggy and me and Ricky to stay at his place in Verona, in a palace of an apartment located a few steps from the old city center with its magnificent Arena and all. Verona is the city I have been visiting at least once a year for some 15 years or so now, but, funny as it is, I've never really stayed there, meaning I was always on some kind of a schedule. it was oh so different and relaxed this time. And Verona revealed its charms again.
And Andrea took us to nearby Vicenza, a smaller city with a huge wonder in its heart. Teatro Olimpico, as Wikipedia states " the oldest surviving enclosed theatre in the world". And if that itself wasn't enough, the theatre is something with a really strong WTF effect. Take a look at the pics, check some info and you'll know what I am talking about. It's a must see, if you ever wander around Veneto region in Northern Italy.
Oh, and we went to another one of amazing Beardoc parties in Padova and my heart was on the dancefloor again. What else is new? LOL

Andrea, thanks again for this weekend. After all the stress at work I really needed it.

I am posting some pics here, the whole set can be found on Flickr, which I made Pro again.

Night time is the right time... Verona.

It's ticking
Verona - Portoni della Bra.
Verona - Piazza Bra
Verona - Piazza Erbe
Verona - Piazza Erbe

Verona - Piazza dei Signori
Verona - Piazza dei Signori
Verona - and another one
Verona - the team

Resting Two

Vicenza - Teatro Olimpico 2
Vicenza - going to Teatro Olimpico
Vicenza - Teatro Olimpico one more time
Vicenza - Teatro Olimpico. And this is an actual 16th Century stage set, not paintings.

Vicenza - Ricky
Il Direttore.

Goodbye, Vicenza
Goodbye, Vicenza.

I've never been to Verona, but I've been to Vicenza and Padova a few times. I spent an unforgettable (very late) evening walking around Vicenza's old city by the light of a full moon. I was in Padova for work so I didn't see much but did manage to see the Scrovengi chapel and eat exceedingly well. Good times and wonderful memories. Nice pics- Thanks!

Hummmmmmm you were in Vicenza and Padova and managed to ignore the Romeo&Juliet city? Bad bad bad man! :) And, yes, Padova is a lovely little city with some really nice architecture. And Scrovegni Chapel is surely the thing to see there, so, yes, you managed. A bit. :)

Most welcome!
