Good people.

Part of our weekend, spent with a really lovely bunch of people we haven't seen in a while, in a little country-side refuge. There was food, there was wine, there was music, there was good time. Time, only good people can prepare for you.

I'm curious about the first shot. Is it a motion blur?
Nov. 15th, 2009 09:40 am (UTC)
Nope, it's moving a cam with shutter being open. Motion blur would just "mess up" everything in the picture. :)

So how did you capture that cool effect?

Is there a tray with candles being set down on the table and you are holding the shutter open for say, 1/2 second? The people are relatively clear and sharp so I'm curious.
Or is the camera following the tray and a delayed flash caught the people?

Whatever it is, I LIKE it!

It was probably half a second, yes, but I didn't use any flash and, yes, there were candles on the table and I just moved the cam and the light parts of the pictures left the trave of light...

Thanks, Dan! :)

Oh, I know you know how to have a good time. :)
Nov. 16th, 2009 12:33 am (UTC)
Of course I do, I've practiced it long enough. :)

OK - the photography is absolutely stunning. Might I ask what type camera you are using? How did you get such clarity without a flash? I am still a horrible neophyte with my Nikon D40X...
Nov. 16th, 2009 12:35 am (UTC)
Thanks, bud! :) I am using Canon EOS 50D and clarity without a flash can be achieved by using lenses that are good fow low light conditions. These pics were taken with 50mm F1.4 lens.

OK - I guess I just need to practice more. These are the type of photos I would frame and hang...

I love taking pictures of people in low light. :)

Love the atmosphere of these pics. Looks like a place I would love.

That second pic is just great with the select focus, and B&W too. Just lovely.

It was lovely. A little house in the hills outside Ljubljana, away from the crowds. Yes, it was all about wine, again. :)

Thanks, Ernie.

It's a very good friends of ours, "inherited" from Iggy's side. :) It was an intimate, lovely evening.

The image seems to capture a perfect moment, he's into what he's doing and it gives me a sense of peace and calm.
