America, please GET A LIFE!

Some of the news in the past few days really annoyed me and today all just went a bit over the limit. I am really really pissed off and somewhat annoyed by overall ignorance and narrow focus that does not let anything with some sort of a substance in. First some data, taken from the World Wide Web:

Every day, almost 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes - one child every five seconds.  Every year 15 million children die of hunger.
Children under the age of 5 in the
United States are more likely to be killed by their parents than anyone else. Contrary to popular mythology, they are rarely killed by a sex-crazed stranger. FBI crime statistics show that in 1999 parents were responsible for 57 percent of these murders, with family friends and acquaintances accounting for another 30 percent and other family members accounting for 8 percent. Crime statistics further reveal that of the children under 5 killed from 1976 to 1999, 30 percent were murdered by their mothers while 31 percent were killed by their fathers.
In dog racing, there is only one ultimate goal: profit. And when the graceful greyhounds don't meet that need, most are expendable. Some are placed as pets, but nearly 20,000 are killed each year. The "fortunate" ones are killed humanely. Others become documented horror stories. But thousands disappear to fates unknown.

And now, PLEASE, spare me with stories of nation's-trouble-kid-Britney Spears' children and who's gonna get custody and her hair and her love-handles and all... I mean, has it ever occured to you that she cannot sing at all? And spare me with stories about Madeleine McCann and - above all - spare me with stories about Britney Spears' dogs!!! Have you gone completely and totally insane? Sometimes everything that's going on around me really makes me sad.

Just be glad you don't live here.

That is ALL I am going to say... if I go any further, this would become a treatise... yikes.

(much though I would LOVE to have you in closer physical proximity to myself...)
