I forgot my music player in the office yesterday, so the world was unusally full of human nonsense on the bus this morning. I overheard  this sick and lame "joke"...

"Is it still going to be called The White House now or maybe Uncle Tom's Cabin?"

It's everywhere. Even among people I know personally, I've heard jokes like this. Some of it very recently.

It's depressing to think folks have not moved beyond this type of thing. And yes, among the persons I have heard say these things are members of the gay bear community.

Um...Wasn't "Uncle Tom's Cabin" about conviction of faith, anti-slavery and empowerment?

I'll have to add that back to my reading list.

It is known here in Bulgaria too, at least with generations who grew up in the Communist era. Anti-racism was a very favourite theme with the Communist rulers, a way for them to look democratic and to make American society look "bad". And quite safe as we are all white here.
