YAY for vacation plans!!!

I am not a man who prefers to have his life all laid out and planned. I prefer to take the pleasures of everyday life "step by step, mile by mile... man by man" (don't get me wrong, please LOL). But there's one thing I really like to dedicate some time and space in advance: vacation. It's really a nice feeling in July/August when I am about to go to the coast to know where we're going to spend skiing vacation. Or... it's good when it's November and it's cold and dark and I know already where I'll spend some time in May.

Yes, if there are any milestones in my life I can really refer to them as "booked vacations". So, these are next two milestones I am really looking forward to enjoying. And both places will be had with Igor, my brother Robert and our friends Marijana and Matjaz. I guess we really had great time during our Weekend Veronese, so we're looking for more, right? :) So......

Milestone #1: 31 Jan - 7 Feb 2009 - Residence Le Sapiniere, Les Menuires (France)

Yes, it's our traditional ski vacation - we're going to Les Menuires (which is next-door to Val Thorens) for the third year in a row, because skiing is Savoy Alps is... amazing. And I think this will be the first year with more or less decent lodging. French standards are... well... specific. Last skiing vacation there was okay though. So, this is Le Sapiniere.

House with a view.

The view over to La Masse and fireplace. YAY! :)

Milestone #1: 25 Apr- 2 May 2009 - Casale del Chianti, Castelfranco Di Sopra (Italy)

This will be our first "big" Tuscany visit. We've been there a couple of times, but never for a real experience. I am really looking forward to it. And besides names like Florence, Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano, Lucca I already put two little markings on my list: we need to go to Montalcino and try Brunello wine and we need to go to Montepulciano and try Nobile wine. Quite a lot for the first visit, right? :)

The house that dates back to 14th century and some of the garden.

Cosy and more garden. And there's also a private pool hidden somwhere.

Now, if only I knew what to do for Xmas and New Year's........ any ideas?

No west coast US? :-(

Seriously, looks like you've got a terrific couple of vacations set up and ready to go. I'm the same way - it's pretty difficult to leave things like flights and hotel rooms to a last-minute whim, anyway.

I am saving west coast for real vacation, not for this short, week long trips. I want it to be real and big. :)
And vacation planning is SUCH fun, because it leaves me excited and in anticipation, which is always good. Even counting days can be fun at times, right?

I am especially looking forward to a week in Toscana - I only made a few short trips there and I really loved it. Now I've got a good chance to really explore the area.

You SERIOUSLY need me to suggest some exotic, far away location for you? he he he

Gosh - I'd LOVE to join you in Italy though, that's for sure! :-)

You KNOW well I'd love to spend some time down under. Really, really. :) And I am sure you'd really enjoy Italy as well. I already fell in love with the old house. :)

Ah, la Toscana quanto mi manca!

I liked Montalcino: I recall sipping Brunello with Adrian at the Enoteca in the castle (with a tagliere of cheese and salami).

How about more Italy for New Year?
A few years ago we spent it in Ferrara where they "set fire" to the Castello Estense in the main square.

Yes, I am really happy to spend more than just a day in Toscana. It's been on my wish list for years now. And it finally came true. More Italy for New Year... We were skiing around Civetta last year for Christmas and New Year and it was pretty spectacular. But for this year... I feel strangely clueless. :)

But you've got OTHER stuff at your fingertips. The stuff I don't have.

wow beautiful photos!!!! both places are breathtaking. i am very jealous. especially of Tuscany. wow. have you been to portofino?

i would suggest to visit Toronto for the holidays. but a trip here would be better in the summer. we have really depressing weather now and i imagine december would be worse. you guys are welcome anytime. there is a large underground complex downtown for blizzardy days. um, how about Jamaica? we went to an all inclusive in montego bay last december and it was great.

Yes, I have been to Portofino a couple of years ago... Charming little (expensive) city on Ligurian coast. I loved it there.

So I'll visit Toronto in a nice time of the year. :)
