So I am a 355 years old mistake...

Okay, today was a full moon day and it seems that it affected each and everyone in my office. It seemed like hell went wild (again) and I really felt like crying when I went hope. But... after some walking around, some love-toy hunting and a nice late lunch and an even later afternoon/evening nap I feel as good as new. So, it's onto another day for me.

Today, a short story and some pictures. First a picture with a story.

Few facts:
  • my family name is Celestina; which is Italian, because my ancestors are Italian.
  • Celestina is a female first name and - by rule - a female first name cannot become a family name in Italy.
  • Pangrae Celestina(?) came to our part of the world sometimes in early 1600's and got married.
  • His wife Ursula Celestina died in 1653 - it's written in church books and it's also the first time our family name appeared.
  • Apparently some church person, who wasn't too skillful with his quill (guess in mid 1600's that still wasn't much of a asset on a countryside), just made a mistake writing the family name down.
  • So it was Celestina and it was there to stay - and it was the only mistake of the kind, so every single Celestina on Earth is my relative.
  • These are facts - a relative from Australia did whole lot of digging and geneaology in early 2000's. Sadly, he died a couple of years ago.
  • There's a certain Thomas Celestina from Arizona... working at the American Embassy in Ljubljana.
So I guess I am just a consequence of a 355 years old mistake, dealing with mixed up genders.

And I am gay, right? LOL

So, that was the story and now it's time for pictures.

Yes, there was grated parmigiano reggiano in it. And less of it when I left.

My dear Igor, taken with my new love-toy. See below.

It's all about pointing a 1:1.4 lens directly into the light. I like the way it turned out.

Dermot dermfitz</lj>  AKA The cutest pouting on Earth™ is a goatee man now. And boy, oh boy, is he sexy.

My new toy..... it's PORTRAIT TIME! :))))))

And my name, yes. It's funny actually. I wasn't really aware of it all untill an email from Australia hit my inbox in 2000.

Now I feel so..... like life. :)

generally i think tradition can be something wonderful to hold onto..but the whole "no woman name as a family name thing" is a little much.

it's 2008, i mean shit. blatant sexism right there.

crazy story though, wow.

That photo of Igor is great, I hadn't realized that he is such a handsome man. Maybe I was too busy looking at YOU in the photos? ;)

You are such a beautiful mistake! And not only physically beautiful... lucky Igor! :)

And I am also lucky, you know! I know you all!

Neat history on your name :) Supposedly every Hofford is a relative of mine also. My Grandfather "Americanized" his German name when he came to the US and chose Hofford, his brother chose Hoffert, and the other brother stuck with Hoffarth. Or something like that LOL

and that is a great pic of Igor. It may well be the best I've seen of him, or most close up and defined at least. Such a handsome man!

So, you're also unique. But then again, I know that already. :) Yes, family names can be fun. But it never really occured to me that I should dig further into history to find out more. Luckily, there are some who did.

Yes, I like that pic a lot. Guess I will start a series "10 faces of Igor" - my new portrait oriented lens is calling for that. :) And he is handsome, yes.

Yes, names..... I found it rather amusing, I must say. And BIG thanks for 'miracle', Sean!

"ancestors are Italian" - now everything is clear... everything!
... and what a great mistake ... I can't wait for more portraits ... like the 2nd pic ... adorable ... i'd just put some parmegiano on him an eat him... (also without parmegiano) LOL

So what is more clear now? :) And Igor is way better without parmigiano :)
