Yes, this year's vacation is definitely over. I was in my office at 7am today, because I was expecting a shitload of work and I was right. But I shouldn't really complain. It all went by smoothly, not only because I am extremely rested and good-spirited after the vacation. I have to say it was just great. Many things happened, many places visited, many friends met and re-met, it was also pretty emotional now and then, all in all... great time was had. And after Croatia and after Slovenia with Alexi we went to spend some time in Italy. It was actually a yearly, traditional trip to Gardaland amusement park near Lago di Garda. And this year we combined it with some Verona sight-seeing and a lovely trip to Malcesine, a little city along the lake and a short (cable car) trip to Monte Baldo just above Malcesine.

And before I completely fall back in my usual day routine (and start being a faithful member of LJ community again), it's PICTURE TIME! Not least I am still in love with my new cam. LOL

"In fair Verona, where we lay our scene... "

Yes, Verona is always a nice place to visit. This year we skipped some opera in old Arena. The only day "available" was Friday night and they played Tosca then. And I completely don't like it, so the crew (Igor, my brother Robert, our friends Marijana and Matjaž and me-myseld-and-I) opted from some light strolling, some light shopping, some delicious food and alike in tourism.

Walking along river Adige.

Meeting in a city park - we joined M&M&R a bit later.

Can't remember what was so funny.

Piazza delle Erbe.

Oh, it's me and some red lights. "It's a must, " said my brother...

The Arena.

On the Castelvecchio bridge.

More of Castelvecchio.

"And joy comes well in such a needy time..."

Yes, then it was turn to go to Gardaland. Again we managed to pick the best time to visit. It was the first day of Italian collective exodus called ferragosto - they all seem to escape to the mountains or the sea so we were able to have A LOT of fun there that day. It was the first visit of such park for Marijana and I must say she did it with excellence! And she enjoyed it tremendously. Well... 13 hours spent there DO say something, right? :)

Coming out of Dei Corsari

Igor trying to be short enough to get in for free. Didn't work.

3D idiots.

Blue Tornado and Mammouth rides. Did them both several times.

"Stands tiptoe on the misty mountain tops.,."

And then we proceeded along the coast of Lago di Garda. We wanted to go to Malcesine (and we did) and then we wanted to take the funivia up to the Monte Baldo (and we did) and we wanted to spend some time in a cooler environment of this 1.700 high mountain (and we did) and we wanted to stroll around Malcesine a bit (and we did).

The other side of Monte Baldo.

Iggy.

Marijana - or Marge as we call her.

Is this darned thing working???

Down by the lake.

Oh, you went to Verona... With a headline like that, I was afraid you got caught in a gang war between the Capulets and the Montagues. =)

Oh, you should never ever miss Gardaland :)

And luckily for me, I can go to that part of the world often, cause it's just a few hours away from Ljubljana.

Well.... it's easy since Slovenia is so small. Two hours in any direction and you're in another country... or end up drowning in the sea. LOL

Berlin........ I might be there in October. Or maybe not if I find a better flight/hotel deal for Barcelona. So it's all in the air. :)

Another stunning series of holiday photos.

Have your travels ever taken you to the Villa Adriana (Hadrian's Villa) which I think is in Tivoli? I would love to go there some day. One of my favorite films (a French film by Roger Vadim, Et mourir de plaisir) was largely filmed there in 1960.
