Three Chapters of my Saturday

It was a splendid sunny, warm Saturday and I was outside almost all of the day. Igor and I were going around, looking for a bigger apartment to buy (but that's another story) and I took my camera with me. So, I will divide my Saturday into three chapters.

Daffodils (and other flowers...)

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

-William Wordsworth, Daffodils (1804)

Ljubljana flower market

Tulips. Ljubljana is full of them now.

Imported stuff. :)

A birdie.

The Market

A very specific and famous spot in Ljubljana, its old Food Market. Opened every day and very busy on Saturdays. A must for everyone visiting Ljubljana and a definite ritual for a large number of people here.

Approaching...

And entering.

Apples for everyone.

It was 1pm and the crowd was slowly going disappearing.

More flowers?

People on the street

European trade unions now and then organise really large protests in one of the European countries. They usually prepare those gathering at the same time as ECOFIN sessions take place. One of those sessions too place yesterday and today near Ljubljana as part of our presidentship to the European Union and so it happened: after Nice, Lisbona, Luxembourg and Brussels it was time for Ljubljana streets to be flooded with 30.000 people marching agains increasing social differences in Europe. It was quite a sight to see.

Impressive.

Emtpy streets awaiting.

It says all.

54 trade unions from 29 countries organised today's protests.

Eye candy.

Peace and life.

International.

And that's it. Yet again.

Wow. I'm so glad to have a European on my friend's list again! It's been awhile. I did not know that it was Slovenia's turn to be president of the EU. I am both entertained and educated.

Lovely pictures. What *IS* up with the people dressed like a table at a biergarten? Did they mistake this for a Halloween parade?

Loverly!

Any luck on the flat? So you 2 will have a bed when we visit next time? :)

BTW I think you both should volunteer for the Games here in 2010. Unless you can cover them for RTVS ;)

AUGH! I LOVE THE MARKET! I never really had a reason to stop there for anything, but we would pass by it all the time from one place to another. What I REALLY miss is the Church of Hideousness and Utter Despair right there across from the Market - do you know the one I mean?

Some day I want to be back in that market, and lean over the rail looking down onto the Ljubljanica - the sun will be warm, the sky blue as is proper on a fine June day, and when I get tired of looking at the river, I'll turn around to find you there. Then we'll go to the Church of Hideousness and Utter Despair, laugh at the doors, perhaps take some photos of it, and then go get some sladoled from the place behind Preseren's statue.

Some day.

and I'll be waiting patiently and try to help you get as much Ljubljana as you'd feel like. and yes, sladoled in Sladoledni vrt is still so good.

some day.

and I want that day to happen soon.

Me too. And hooray for Sladoleni vrt!

It hadn't occurred to me until just now, but if I play my cards right, this new job could quite possible make that day sooner than I imagined!

OK, the guy in the 'Eye Candy' photo was acceptable. But, where are the photos of all the men with goatees and beards? There has to have been more than just one out there that day.

In exchange for this transgression, I will accept more photos of you.
