Italian mishaps

Yes, many things can happen during language lessons. As you might know, I am trying to learn Italian and it actually is fun! But people who come to these classes, don't really share the same ideas about how these classes should be prepared, how new material should be introduced and - which can really be annoying at times - the one who paid for the class is very likely not the one who is actually taking the lessons. Companies do it for their employees often and many of them just don't show any will or sign or hint of interest in the matter being taught.

So, some of the gems of this semester - and the star of most of them being a lady, called Mia and I will just say she could easily sue her hairdresser. Yes, I am that gay, in case you haven't noticed LOL

Teacher (in Italian): So, which museums would you visit in Rome?
Mia (in Slovenian): I am not interested in history even when I talk Slovenian.

Teacher (in Italian): Which museum would you recommend to a tourist visiting Ljubljana?
Mia (in Slovenian and/or Italian): *silent*
20 seconds of silence...
Me: (In any language): Top Shop?
Mia: *stare*

Teacher to Mia - just something in Italian; to Mia it probably sounded like "(#/!&"$!%!&"=#((")!("%"!?
Mia: *silent*
Another student to Mia (in Slovenian): It's your turn to answer...
Mia (in Slovenian, screaming, pointing to the teacher): How the hell should I know if *she* keeps on speaking Italian?

Well, scuse me, hon, but you happened to land in an Italian class.... well..... eventually she quit. LOL

What the hell is she doing in the class?! Didn't she realize that people would be speaking in - gasp - Italian? What a waste of time - for her, the instructor, and those in the class who would like to learn.

What's "Top Shop"?

Eh che cazzo!!!
Surely is not what an Italian teacher would like to see...I give all my support to my colleague teacher and thank God that there are also people who really like to learn a language!
If you have any doubts, just ask me!
è tutto chiaro?

hehehehehe she sounds like quite a student. I wish I had pursued more language studies when I was younger. It gets so much harder as you grow up :P

I took Spanish from 7th to 12th grade but it never really stuck. I can read it ok, and understand some but speaking doesn't come well at all for me. It would be really helpful if I had a better grasp of it here, I hear more Spanish in this area than I do English some days.

I really wish I spoke more languages. Europe definitely benefits from the many different cultures/languages all so close together.

I've decided that, at some point, I want to learn Roumanian. Wow, it IS practically a Romance language, like with the verb conjugations and many of the pronunciations.

Eu sant, I am ... "Eu" like "Yo" in Spanish.

learn Slovenian... it's just as useless and probably even more difficult :)

Funny thing: Mia is an italian word! (my in feminine singular)... It's mía in Spanish, meva in catalan, mienne in french...
