Italian mishaps

Yes, many things can happen during language lessons. As you might know, I am trying to learn Italian and it actually is fun! But people who come to these classes, don't really share the same ideas about how these classes should be prepared, how new material should be introduced and - which can really be annoying at times - the one who paid for the class is very likely not the one who is actually taking the lessons. Companies do it for their employees often and many of them just don't show any will or sign or hint of interest in the matter being taught.

So, some of the gems of this semester - and the star of most of them being a lady, called Mia and I will just say she could easily sue her hairdresser. Yes, I am that gay, in case you haven't noticed LOL

Teacher (in Italian): So, which museums would you visit in Rome?
Mia (in Slovenian): I am not interested in history even when I talk Slovenian.

Teacher (in Italian): Which museum would you recommend to a tourist visiting Ljubljana?
Mia (in Slovenian and/or Italian): *silent*
20 seconds of silence...
Me: (In any language): Top Shop?
Mia: *stare*

Teacher to Mia - just something in Italian; to Mia it probably sounded like "(#/!&"$!%!&"=#((")!("%"!?
Mia: *silent*
Another student to Mia (in Slovenian): It's your turn to answer...
Mia (in Slovenian, screaming, pointing to the teacher): How the hell should I know if *she* keeps on speaking Italian?

Well, scuse me, hon, but you happened to land in an Italian class.... well..... eventually she quit. LOL

What the hell is she doing in the class?! Didn't she realize that people would be speaking in - gasp - Italian? What a waste of time - for her, the instructor, and those in the class who would like to learn.

What's "Top Shop"?
Jan. 30th, 2008 10:01 pm (UTC)
Guess some aliens just dropped her in the class, they probably got tired of her LOL

Top Shop - really low budget store - she seemed like a regular buyer to me hee hee

Oooh - you're such a bitch to say that - love it!

I would recommend the Slovenian History Museum - the one with the tank outside, in a big park near the city center. I thought it was pretty interesting - and quite harrowing, too. They had a big exhibition last year on the Nazis and their atrocities in the area - plus they also examined the Communists' rule, too. Not everyone's idea of a fun afternoon, but I found it all quite compelling.

I always let it out as it is LOL

compelling and a good insight. many things have been happening in this part of the world.

Jan. 30th, 2008 10:50 pm (UTC)

Eh che cazzo!!!
Surely is not what an Italian teacher would like to see...I give all my support to my colleague teacher and thank God that there are also people who really like to learn a language!
If you have any doubts, just ask me!
è tutto chiaro?

I agree with "angel", but have some doubts with "innocent".
Jan. 31st, 2008 06:33 am (UTC)
innocent...... angel......
Jan. 31st, 2008 07:09 pm (UTC)
I would probably agree

my last name is Celestina, so it can hardly get any more celestial, right? :)
Jan. 31st, 2008 04:16 pm (UTC)
hehehehehe she sounds like quite a student. I wish I had pursued more language studies when I was younger. It gets so much harder as you grow up :P
Jan. 31st, 2008 06:53 pm (UTC)
she was fun alright..... up to a point... and maybe just to look at LOL

and I need to admit that learning italian is a way harder work than I remember if i think of my english and german lessons.... ages ago.

I took Spanish from 7th to 12th grade but it never really stuck. I can read it ok, and understand some but speaking doesn't come well at all for me. It would be really helpful if I had a better grasp of it here, I hear more Spanish in this area than I do English some days.

I really wish I spoke more languages. Europe definitely benefits from the many different cultures/languages all so close together.
Jan. 31st, 2008 07:23 pm (UTC)
well... learning some sort of foreing language is more or less a must if you live in a country of only 2M people and if you want to communicate to a big, wide world. the world in which dendren is :)

I've decided that, at some point, I want to learn Roumanian. Wow, it IS practically a Romance language, like with the verb conjugations and many of the pronunciations.

Eu sant, I am ... "Eu" like "Yo" in Spanish.
Feb. 1st, 2008 12:32 am (UTC)
learn Slovenian... it's just as useless and probably even more difficult :)
Feb. 1st, 2008 12:36 am (UTC)
But, Roumanian is the likely language of my dad's ancestors.
Feb. 1st, 2008 12:39 am (UTC)
ok... makes sense... just don't be like Mia :) puh-leeze!!!
Feb. 1st, 2008 12:41 am (UTC)
Who's Mia?
Feb. 1st, 2008 12:43 am (UTC)
the chick in the post :)
Feb. 1st, 2008 12:56 am (UTC)
Oh! *Self-Facepalm*

When I dedicate myself to something, I tend to complete it halfway and leave it unfinished amongst 10 other things. So, I'll be a good student, I promise.
Feb. 1st, 2008 01:05 am (UTC)
good... and if you need a hand... just tell me... not that I'd know a thing or two about Romania... but I can always try, right? :)
Feb. 1st, 2008 07:21 pm (UTC)
Funny thing: Mia is an italian word! (my in feminine singular)... It's mía in Spanish, meva in catalan, mienne in french...
Feb. 1st, 2008 07:40 pm (UTC)
but as far as Mia goes.... she can easily be Tua! :)
Feb. 1st, 2008 08:07 pm (UTC)
Mia? Never
I only like masculine gendered nouns - and not all of them
Feb. 1st, 2008 08:31 pm (UTC)
ok... my name is Noun :)
