Weekend Escape

I wanted to take it easy, but in the morning I talked to E and the plan was made: we're spending the weekend in Treviso and tomorrow it's probably pre-carneval Venice visit. YAY! Some pics of me setting foot in Treviso(yet again). :)

A lovely fountain.

It's mine, yes. The foot, that is.

Treviso is full of water.

Main city square and usual Saturday chit-chat crowd.

Igor, resting.

The old loggia - now a cafe.

Gregor mentioned that we ought to do go one of these carnival days. I will be pushing him!

it might be a bit too crowdy, but it's always worth the shot.

Yeah, the crowds, yuck. I forgot. On the other hand, I think there is always a way to slip down a weird sidestreet and get lost away from the crowds.

of course it is, but you won't get much of carnival spirit then. and Venice is much nicer to "slip down) in April or in May. pretty humid and coldish now, especially in those weird, narrow sidestreets.

but i'd prefer it anyway and any day and anyhow :)

treviso???
Hey, looks like you're following me! I'm in Belluno this weekend, my hometown which is 30min from Treviso, in the Alps.
Maybe tomorrow we can meet and I can show you good places to visit in BL or TV. I'll be back to Ljubljana on Monday.
Mitja, when are you coming to see me in my place?
Ciaooo!

Still undecided.
No, just kidding, we - Viki and I - are coming soon. Unfortunatelly not this weekend, I am working tommorow morning and have 3 concourses to draft. Next weekend it's Salome Carneval Party, and then we can start planing seriously our visit to you and Ale.
A presto!

my goodness... such planning for a two hours' drive... or maybe a little more...

what I did was:
"Are you coming over for dinner in Treviso?"
"Oh, yes, of course, why not!"
"See you a few hours then!"
"Cool!"

And off we were...... :)

My partner is 100% Slovenian, first generation American. His parents came over shortly after WWII.

Mom is from Spodnji Hotic
Dad is from Ljubljana

Potica is a holiday staple around here!

Gotta run, Tomaz! I need to get ready for work.

Have a good night!

It's funny how Americans think about how "old" some things are in this country. But, not until you see the rest of the world do you understand what "old" is.

Yuck, cigarette butts.

"old" is pretty relative, yes

and no, cigarettes are not my fault.... I don't smoke and in Slovenia finding them on the pavement is not a common sight. Italy is... different in its charm :)
