Food and... well... food.

I really needed to be totally off and unplugged this weekend. Last week (and weekend before and week before that and...) wasn't really pleasant, so I decided to take Friday off. No work, no translations, no nothing. Ricky was also supposed to be in Ljubljana this weekend, but he only managed to be here for a couple of hours, because he had to go home due to some health issues his father had. (It's all okay now) So... no internet, no chatting, no LJ, just easy time.

And I fell into one of really rare "food moments", meaning I was actually willing and prepared to cook. So I took care of Saturday and Berti took care of Sunday. Food was delicious, wine was even better, company was great and weekend was... a little escape which I needed so much.

So... the menu is behind the cut. If you need to know more, just ask. :) Not that I'll be able to answer it. LOL

Oh, and I am officially not satisfied with iphone camera. Vids - okay, Pics - shit. Seriously.

Tomatoes filled with eggs, tuna, mayo, pickles, olives and capers. Oh, and you can't see pea cream soup.

Apfelstrudel in the making.

The only really annoying part of the whole process.

Ready to roll, baby.

Saltimbocca - veal, mozarella, prosciutto and sage. Oh, and my stealth black ceramic knife. :)

Halfway there.

Finished goodness.

The aftermath. 2nd machine.

And then... The Settlers of Catan time. :)

Berti had headache today. But me and bubbles... good friends.

And then Saturday turned into Sunday..............

Berti's lunch was an exercise in colour coordination. Carrot cream soup with capuccino foam and pumpkin oil.

Sole, avocado, shrimps and cheese in creamy sauce al forno. Excellent!!!

Here come the snow, little darling, here comes the snow... so this sage is in the freezer now. For some winter food.

And thus endeth another weekend...

The saltimbocca looks delicious. One of my all-time favorites, pre-vegetarianism....

Even if it doesn't look so from this post.... there are awfully small amounts of meat in my diet, because I am not really a meat person. But now and then... And this was one of those weekends. :)

And I have to say I was quite satisfied with the outcome.

Are these with your iphone cam?

Oh, and I played that game like almost 10 years ago. My second bf was a big board game fanatic.
I think he still plays a lot too.

When the cooking mood takes over wonderful results can be had...looks fabulous (except the seafood)! LOL. I have looked for the pumpkin oil here and I don't think it is available :(

Having 'down' time from chatting and internet is good...I do it every now and again and really enjoy myself.

iPhone camera is ok in good light with HDR on. If you have to use the flash forget it! It *is* a phone primarily after all...

It all looks good, the seafood especially!

I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of tomatoes - unless they have been rendered into ketchup or spaghetti sauce :(

Thanks for the tip on freezing sage. We have a nice sage in the backyard. Just harvest and freeze?

Oh I *love* tomatoes. :))))

and I do the same with sage, basilico, origano.... you name it. Harvest, throw on a tray, put in the freezer and when it's frozen I put in a plastic box and just take as much as I need. Freezing on the tray is useful, just make sure you put it in a box real quick, otherwise it can start melting and they just gets stuck together.

OMG... the saltimboca looks fab. One of my fave Italian dishes, tho it's usually chicken instead of veal here.

I wish I liked fish, the stuffed tomatos and the sole dish *look* wonderful but... fish... *shudder*

the Apfelstrudel.... niiiice!

Yay for little escapes! It was high time you had one. :)

I finally managed to see Galya for coffee this Sunday. She was either travelling or working so much that I hadn't seen her for... maybe a whole month. But we didn't take any photos this time.

On the other hand, my university friend reappeared after a seasonal job that took too much of her time, so I think I overdid the escapes last week. Not that my current translation project is a real job (at least for now).

Now I feel tempted to ask for that Apfelstrudel recipe although I'm disastrous at baking.
