Italian lesson.

God (or whoever you might find appropriate) knows I really don't like overly decorated appartments and such. Those who have seen our place might have noticed it looks rather "empty" by some puff standards. Well, too much stuff just doesn't float my boat sorry. Anyway... there are - apparently - occasional slips. I really wanted to have some sort of a prominent piece for our dining table. And on our last trip to Venice I found just the right thing. Golden Murano glass plate. I just knew this is it.

And then my dear Italian friend (hmmmmmm ex friend) Riccardo came to visit and he said: "Okay, this looks nice, but this is really one big giant froceria." So I dare you, what would the word mean (you won't be able to just google it, I think) and why on earth did he use it and what on earty is wrong with my kitschy golden precious Murano glass plate???

LOL

EDIT!!! I changed frocceria to froceria, which seems to be the right word. :) So, google again. LOL

The whole thing with some strategically places apples....

Detail.

Your lovely apartment looks minimalist, compared to our house!

I wonder what your friend Riccardo would say if he saw our place? LOL!

Agreed with london1967, one c would work, since the word is 'frocio' (= fag)... As in "such a faggoty thing"... LOL... the things people come up with.

As for your 'froceria,' how is one to judge, when one cannot see the plate in its context? Where is the table said 'froceria' graces? Is there golden leaf on the sides of the room? How does it 'represent'? See, I have already gone too deep into an area, interior design, I know nothing about...

Ciao

Okay. :)))) I changed it. You know, me and Italian...

Ok, so this froceria is sitting on the dining room table. And I can provide some pics here:

These pics are more than a year old now, so place might look a bit more .... populated now, but it's still clean. More or less. LOL

I looked at the pictures... Your friend overreacted... probably an overzealous queen trying to be all macho... As Vergil told Dante in the "Inferno," "Non ti curar di lor, ma guarda e passa" (you, my translator, can make sense of that, right?)

How could you possibly hold a grudge against Riccardo?

I like you Murano glass. Now, you should get a Nissan Murano to match....

Well... careful. Him or me? And "me" seems to be the only way (for now) for you to get close to "Him". LOL

Nissan Murano in gold? No thanks. LOL

How 'bout that?

Stunning gold effect.

I must admit I was a tad disappointed when I went to Murano. I find much of the glass rather gaudy.

Yes, colour got me. Murano is one huge disappointment, yes. Ugly industrial island. And, yes, some of their glass thingies are just too much. But you can still find decent, toned-down stuff. Which is more to my liking.
