It's a miracle.

I guess the trip to Egypt was so strong, it deserved another slideshow/movie. That's what I was doing for the past two days, hence my quiet time on LJ. :) Ok, you have seen some pics already, video clips are taken with my mobile phone and music... The song is actually Croatian and it's actually a love song, but it really seemed appropriate. I bought some CDs in Egypt with their original music, but this song just echoed in my head, so I used it. There it is... another Insha'Allah episode. Hope you enjoy it. Hugs! :)

I. Love. It. Damn you! You're really infectious, you know that? Now, I really have to rock North Africa again. We need to do Morocco, too. It's pretty amazing there. A lot less homophobic than Egypt. I've been thinking about scenarios to shoot... Ok, I'm sending you e-mail.

HUG!

Thanks, T. I am happy you like it. Morocco has been peacefully sitting on my list for years now. I want to see Atlas and those ancient cities. Well, I didn't care about homophobia in Egypt, because I wasn't on that kind of a cruise. LOL

Well, I didn't care about homophobia in Egypt, because I wasn't on that kind of a cruise. LOL - Well, if you were with me you would be! LOL

I have to say again I like this clip a lot. You pulled it together and captured the mood of whole thing as you saw it. It's Egypt as you saw it. I like the music too. It's not something that usually attracts me. But it works.

Thanks again! :) Well, that was probably the only way I could capture it, cause that's how it remained in my head. LOL

You know what I need to do now? Compile a similar thing about Slovenia so you might skip Spain and Ireland next year (yes, I talked to Andrew LOL).

Well, I just know you'd love some Croatia and some Slovenia and some northern Italy. Venice, anyone? :)

That sounds just wonderful, and I would love to return to Venice as it has been almost 30 years since I was there. I know Andrew would love it. I know nothing about Slovenia, but have visited Dubrovnic and Opatija a very long time ago when it was Yugoslavia. Convince me we should visit! LOL

Thanks, Pete! :) I had some doubts about the music though, because I didn't know if it fits, but I guess it's "international" enough to blend in.

I agree, the music was awesome. It's a really nicely done piece. I shared this with a co-worker who also admired your work (and your patience/diligence putting something like this together) and wanted to know, what program to you use for your video editing?

Once again, nice work. Tasteful, elegant.

Thanks, Dan! :) Well, it did require some patience, but after I had listened to that song some 50 times and already putting the whole thing together in my head, it wasn't really that difficult to make it all. I use Sony Vegas for video editing.

Once again, thanks. Really.

Amazing.
I had no doubt that it'll be a great video, and it was indeed, yet another one of your amazing videos. Thanks for sharing. Great effort.

Re: Amazing.
:))))))) Thanks, D! It means a lot to me that someone who lives in Egypt likes my "version" of what I experienced there.

We need to talk a bit more about the words, though, right? Cause something still aren't totally clear to me.

P.S. but look at your URL in the video: it should be a hyphen instead of the underscore in your username (remember that peculiarity of LJ?).

Jan. 13th, 2010 12:38 am (UTC)
Oh... officially it's paterson_si, but LJ is good with both, _ and -.

Officially I'm tilia_tomentosa too, but my URL (copy-paste) is http://tilia-tomentosa.livejournal.com

I don't know if it still works if you write it with the underscore.

It does. I always use the underscore.

How utterly marvelous! so many old familiar sights ... the Hypostyle Hall at Karnak, the Avenue of Sphinx, the friezes of Ankhs and Pharaohs and Immemorial Divinities who have guided those mortals who choose the Wisdom path from age through age (in saecula saeculorum!), the Colossi of Memnon with their intimations of Majesty and Despair, the impassive monumentality of Abu Simbel, the Nile in all Her eternal Glory... mingled with sights that are new ... images of the crowds in the Suq, of the son et lumiere at the Pyramids and Sphinx, of a contemporary Egyptian Fanta can, of Arabic words unknown to me (while the words of the ancient inhabitants I can read as clearly as I read my own tongue), of immemorially stoic Igor (the Uncle Ho cap, if that's what it is, floors me) and endlessly flirting Tomaz ... all underscored with music and words in Croatian, French and English. Rhapsody!

Dare I ask ... MORE please???

hugs, Shimmer

You always say the nicest things, Shimmer. But was I really flirting? I thought I was very.... touristic on those shots. LOL And Iggy has a kind of Uncle Ho cap, yes. He likes it. :) And I am really happy you approve of the music selection.

More? Well, wait for another little trip. :)

Oh yeah, I was definitely yanking your chain with that line about flirting! Although I did think there was something a bit flirty in one pose of yours in there...
