Berlusconi is alive!!!

No, it's not about that Italian idiot who got a miniature church in his plasticky face a couple of days ago, it's about a plant... that's somehow connected with him. Flash rewind to Autumn 2006... We were spending a really lovely mini vacation in Genova along the Ligurian Mediterranean coast. Our days were spent in a posh apartment with marble nearly everything in it; overlooking the old port over infamous sopraelevata. And while narrow, dark, sometimes even spooky streets of the city were a true delight, we also explored the coastline a bit. And it got us all the way to Portofino, a real nice gem of a port town, with breath-takingly beautiful view of the bay and with totally breath-takingly absurd prices. Obviously Italian noblesse oblige chose Portofino for one of its refuges. Anyways, before I drift too far away... nearby hills are flocked with amazing villas and Silvio Berlusconi also owned a palazzo there; with a huge garden. And one of my amici genovese stole a plant from that garden a number of years ago and it's been growing in his terrace ever since. And he's named it Berlusconi. And I was really impressed with the whole story so I got a tiny Berlusconi offspring a year later. I took it to my office and since I am not a plant person I nearly killed it. I think that repotting a couple of months ago saved it. Well, it lost almost all of its original leaves, but look... not one, not two, but three pretty, bright green young sprouts are becoming reality now! So, I guess I saved it and Berlusconi will keep on flourishing on my desk.

Oh, Berlusconi no longer owns that place in Portofino. Dolce&Gabbana bought it from him. Go figure.

I somehow missed the story about an Italian idiot getting a miniature church hurled in his face... Americans are too stupidly obsessed with this golf guy and his marital problems, I guess.

The plant seems to be making a definite return to life! What a lovely gift for the impending Winter Solstice.

Well, international news can be interesting. Especially when it's about some prime minister being attacked by a loony. :)

And I like the new plant.... :)

I wonder if that plant was in the photo of the Czech Prime Minister about to get sucked off by the hooker.

Well done on not killing it.

Well, luckily the plant was stolen before that Czech could cum on it. :)

Sometimes I make it........ ;)

At least you can breathe new life into it.

My mom killed a fake plant once. She had an arrangement sitting in the windowsill for about 8 years. One day when she was dusting it, the leaves and petals crumbled from being exposed to the sun for so many years. Now that's a bad gardener!!

Killing a fake plant.... that's something I still need to achieve. :)

Instead of keeping the 'fake' Berlusconi alive, it would have been nice if you had killed the real one... oh wait, after all that plastic surgery, it's hard to tell which is which! (Which makes me think that the damage that the guy caused is comparable to the one Michael Jackson had to put up with his fake nose falling off... I wonder how much of Berlusconi will have to be "repotted" before his face looks normal again!).

Ciao bello

Who knows what real Berlusconi will have to do to restore his already totally natural manliness. :) I guess that sticking to the 'fake' one might be less stressful for me. :)

And ciao bello to you too, V!

You criminals, stealing people's plants! LOL

Yes, this plant seems very much alive to me. It's a tough survivor! :)

And I totally missed the miniature church episode. :)

Perhaps you could have 'voodoo' plants of the various leaders around the world and...kill them off slowly! Pleased your plant is doing well...even if the namesake isn't! LOL. Poor Mr Berlusconi...NOT!

Humm.... I guess that deliberate doing in of the plants just wouldn't work for me. They'd probably grow like mad. LOL

Yes, my Berlusconi is okay, the other one though..... is even more bizarre than usual. ;)

No green thumb here either.

But I had the pleasure of going to Portofino a few years back, and it was just stunning!
