No November gloom. At all.

I looked outside my office windows and I liked the view and I am sharing it with you. And then it made me think...

Heavy clouds are plaguing the sky over Ljubljana and the colours have all but left the city , but we've been pretty lucky so far. November can be one of the most depressing months in this city weather-wise. This are first serious clouds of the month and hey! we nearly ran out of November.

It's really funny when I come think of me about a year ago and now. I guess that November/December last year presented probably the darkest period of my life. I just didn't know what to do with my job that - after two years - started to seriously pushing me into something that was the closest approximation of depression. But I didn't fall over the edge and I would surely never look for the helps of any kind of drugs. I had to fight my way out, I just had to do it my usual way. But I needed five more months and when I finally resigned from my bossy position in May (a relaxing week in Tuscany surely helped me making the right decision; I opted for life) my life turned into something totally different.

Well, it returned to my usual, careless, happy, joie de vivre mode. And since then everything seems to be working okay. So I guess this is a kind of my late thanksgiving lament; I am thankful for all the nice things that happened in the last year. Oh, also for the bad stuff, because it made me re-evaluate my life, my goals, my priorities. So, there. Even I can stray from flashing. Sometimes.

Thanks, Matt! :) Yes, I have to say I like such a dramatic sky as I can look at today. And I am also counting the days till skiing vacation. Can hardly wait.

Thanks, Pete! :) Yes, Slovenia is all but gloomy - when the weather allows it. I like it here, actually. A lot. I have just enough of the world to really appreciate kind of slow, relaxed life here.

And yes, a huge YAY for changes. They really pushed me into a much nicer, sane state of mind.

And keep on following. :)

That photo (I'm jealous of your view....) has tons of beauty to my eye. The red roof tiles, the weathered metal roofing...well, what a gorgeous place where you live! And hey, is that the infamous castle and do I see the little tram that goes up the side? If (when, dammmit... when!) I make it there, I'll take the hike up without the assist of the tram, thank you very much.

Glad to hear you're looking past the pre-winter gloominess!

The old part of the city - that we all call Stara Ljubljana, meaning, well, Old Ljubljana - is a really charming place. And, yes, that's the castle. And the little tram is a lovely way to go up. Or down. Ok, you'll walk, I'll wait for you in the tower. :)

Yes, winter gloominess won't have me this year, no sir!

Don't stray too far..... ;-)

Seriously though, congrats on having the courage to make a big decision re your career last year, one that has worked out so well for you!

Oh, I will stay comfortably close. LOL

I often think about it. And I often ask myself why have I waited for so long? Well, I don't know, but I guess there was some reasoning behind it all. I just forgot all about it.

Gloom is okay and since we're not getting whopping 300 sunny days a year... I'll take more sun, thankyouverymuch! :)

Gawd, what a view. I LOVE that castle. There was a Saxon fortress (so called--I'm not sure exactly what this meant; I think Saxon as in Saxony, not Saxon as in circa 900 AD) in the Transylvania segment of Two Hairy Bikers last night--they were in a village that was near the border with the Ukraine; quite far north in Romania.

Congratulations on turning your life around. And without the aid of dope and/or histrionics! You are a remarkable man.

Damn sexy too, but of course, ca va sans dire...

cheers, Shimmer

Yes, I have a "lucky" office. I like the dynamics of the sky above the castle. And, yes, it has some rather spooky esprit. But just some. It's a lovely castle. :)

Hugs!

You always seem to find the beauty in the gloom, and I don't just mean in your photos.

I've discovered a few years ago that my job is just a job. I don't want a full on corporate-climbing career. I want enough to get by on (with a few extras, of course). I am not willing to sacrifice my life for it. It's just not worth it.

Now then...when is that ski holiday of yours going to involve British Columbia? ;-) We are also open in the summer too, if that helps. :-)

I guess optimism is my way to be. :) And I guess I've taken the same path, job-wise. I just had to put on the table and see where is it taking me. I didn't like the direction.

So... First to Egypt and then to France and then... we'll see. :))))

Wow, your office-window view is beautiful even in clowdy weather. :)

We had a cold foggy day, but I'm grateful that we had most of November sunny and awarm. Now it's time for winter to start setting in even where I am.

Darling, I already know that you know how to live... and I have a lot to learn.

Good to hear about the new direction. Is this the picture of Ljubljana today?

It's so sunny and mild here in Burgas. Perhaps you've been sending all the good weather this way.

Gosh,

You get SOOOOOOOO many comments on all your posts - you have a HUGE fan club, young man. And deservedly so, of course! :-)

I suppose when I had to delete the last 9,000 or so notification entries I had, I missed part of your job change time... :-(

But it's nice to know you're much happier now - like me with MY job! Woooo! xxx

hey hey lovely one. :) Well, it's not huge fan club, it's constant interaction that keeps blogs alive. And, yes, I am a much, much happier person now. Seems like I am alive again.
