Just a selection of pics taken in the last few days around Ljubljana. Main theme? Autumn, of course. Vertical this time. Just don't hate me for that. :)

I've seen the future and it will be...

Not the luckiest of sights. Well, it's number 13, right? :)

The Autumn leaves
Drift by my window
The Autumn leaves
Of red and gold...

Goodbye, another day...

A brilliant example of communist era architecture.

For tilia_tomentosa: Ljubljana linden tree. So bloody exotic, isn't it? :)

And I had a cofee with Jaka. :)

So special is your photography. It creates moods and can even stop time. You're a talented bear, and no mistake!

Thanks, C! I think I like "moody" photography. I wish I could create it more often. There's so much beauty around us, I would love to capture some of it.

I never object to photographic verticality. LOL

Oh, communist era architecture. Ours is uglier than yours. :)

Love your clock tower. And even #13.

And I somehow knew that the linden tree was meant for me before I read your generous dedication. :P It seems to be a silver linden all right. And thank you for the much needed laugh!

Well, we come in all dimensions, don't we?

Yes, linden tree was for you. A few more days and all those leaves will definitely fall off. A few cold mornings and we're done. Finito. Vege. Ende. :)

So jealous of your skills....these are wonderful, but my favorite is the first one...

Ah, there's nothing to be jealous about. Just look around, take pics and you'll soon discover another world. :)

Awesome as usual. I like the zooming effect you make, I shall try it soon. The ashtray reflection is wonderful, and scrolling down then building photo was fun!..

Thanks, bud. The zooming picture is not postprocessing, it a "manual" thing. I zoomed in the couple using 1 second exposure. I really love the ashtray, too, wish I had my macro lens with me at that time...

I was wondering about how some of these came about.
So, the first is a manual manipulation of the zoom?

I'm amazed at your ability to pick up on something artistic in everyday things and creatively capturing it with your camera.

Nov. 20th, 2009 12:05 pm (UTC)
The first is purely manual, yes. 1 second exposure and... a twist. :) Thanks, Dan. I am just walking around and looking for pretty little things most of the time. And often it's "Oh, where's my cam now...". :) Guess that's my OCD. LOL

Thanks! :) I did quite a few shots with that zoom and twist approach, but not many came out ok. The first pic is one of those that are acceptably sharp.

very nice
love the top 2 + 3rd (church)

Is the 1st pix photoshopped a little? I love that pix - in stark contrast with the rustic 2nd pix.

I may repost. Thanks.

Re: very nice
Thanks. :) The first is not photoshop thing. It's purely "manual". 1 sec exposure and a twist of my zoom lens. I like doing that, yet many picso don't come out okay. This one seemed to be just fine.

Awesome, awesome photos. The first thing that comes to mind with these is texture. It's almost like captuing the mood of a given texture. Love #13.

Thanks, Joe. Colours and shades just pull me in these days. I really like the way you described what I'd just simply call atmosphere... "capturing the mood of a given structure". Big thanks.

These are all gorgeous. What a beautiful city, even with the occasional bursts of Stalinist brutality (architecturally I mean...).

Thanks again for the add. As a courtesy, I will add you back, although I imagine my Journal would be very boring for you unless you enjoy reading about Witchcraft, odd books, and campy old movies. So, no obligation on your part to read or comment. Again, thanks for the sweet and thoughtful gesture of adding me!

(I'll stop gushing now--I promise.)

cheers, Shimmer

Thanks! :) I am glad you liked them. As for "boring" stuff... People are different, right? And the way we see our worlds is also different, but that's what makes it all so interesting and charming. :) So welcome in my little world and I will surely take a look at yours.

Hugs,

Tomaz
