Perversion in Matte.

Bentley Flying Spur a few days ago. It took my breath away. I want a matt black car now.

I've been looking at the pictures of the Mini Roadster from Frankfurt. I may be in love...

It's a fantastic concept. I could also live with the coupe version. :)

If I start saving now I can buy one as my mid-life-crisis-mark-2 car when I hit 40 :)

I wonder if they'll come in matt black? ;-)

you would get one just for being next to me in person..no car needed

A perfect answer. :) And you'd get one, too.

Harley Davidson has been using matte black lately too. They call it Denim for some reason. I could be very happy with a matching Harley and Bentley. A man can dream can't he?

I think I could be very happy with that combination as well. :)

Call me a traditionalist.
I still like it when they look all new and shiny.

I don't like shiny stuff. That's why I never wanted white shoes/clothes. They looked too new for too long. And this matt thing is almost arousing. :)

I'll give you that one on the white shoes and clothes...
Still, I like metallic objects shiny.

A line from The Catherine Tate Show:

"Do you know what they say about guys who like some chrome in their kitchen? That they like to take it up the arse." :)

I prefer matte, also metal stuff. It's looks mysterious and rich. Shiny is "cheap", impresses quickly and gets dirty soon. LOL

Also this: http://www.siol.net/avtomoto/saloni/frankfurt_2009/po_znamkah/avto-salon_frankfurt_2009_-_eksotika.aspx

It's in Slovene, but click on the pix and you will see where European eccentric stuff goes. Matte. :)

It's fantastic. My mouth was open. Drooling.

Late March/early April? Depends... can be drizzly and snowy and murky and rainy, but it can also be sunny and warm.

I don't get the primer notion. When you see the master work behind that paint, you are amazed. :) Keeping it clean? I don't think that owners of 315 km/h, 160000€ car really care how to keep it clean. The car just materialises in front of them every day. Clean. :)

It's fantastic. I have seen such paint on some concept cars, but this was my first eye-to-eye experience. I am in love. :)

Ah.... you need some subtlety in your taste. :) It's not all about glitz and shine. This was a stealth car. :)

Parking... I took this picture in a small town Bled. They prepared the marathon around the lake that day and everything was packed with cars and people. So that car (from Austria) wasn't the only one that was parked where it really shouldn't be.

I'm gonna go to bat for Bill here.
I don't think either of us are for glitz.
It's just a preference for traditional, glossy, deep, reflective paint on a vehicle.
I for one hate the current fad of big, shiny chrome wheels. But I do like just a bit of chrome trim highlighting things like grille openings and window moldings. A good example might be a late model Passat - a car which I think has a perfectly tasteful amount of chrome trim accent. I like the way VW embeds a thin chrome strip within matte plastic trim :)

And you want a stealth car? Get a Mazda5 like mine.
Talk about being ignored by the constabulary :)
I think I'd have to drive in smoking, drifting circles around the police for them to notice, lol

Just my two cents....

Ahh... you know what would really look cool? Matte black car with matte titanium finish where chrome parts should be. I think that would look like metal silk. Silk.... mmmmmmmmmm :)

Tomaz + silk...

Now there's something to make you go .... mmmmmmmmmmmm :)

well..... there's no silk in my wardrobe. But I think it would look cool. :)

Not even in your collections? I'd check the fibre content of some of those specialty items were I you...

I have seen some (various) motorcycles here as well, also some Ducati's that looked like 1M$, especially with carbon parts instead of all other metal.

i don't know why they stopped doing paint like that for many years here in America..i always thought that 40s look was great.
the glossy stuff just begs for fingerprints..much like most cel phones and Apple products these days.
terrible, terrible idea.

give me my matte, and give it now.

by the way, you're one of the only users on here that i know who uses LJ for their pic uploads, and that makes me happy:)

Matte is fantastic. I like the feeling of that paint. Yes, I know about glossy... my desk is full of glossy, dusty stuff. :)

Well... LJ and pics, it has the option and it's a fairly simple one, so, yes, I need no extra steps. :)

The matte grows on you, though it's certainly off of our normal paths. I'm not a fan of gloss black (dirt!), though I've enjoyed many a glossy car in Jewel-like shades of green, red, or blue, including wrascalism's lovely Gidget. Gloss paints suit that era of N.A. autos quite admirably I think, and the patina of old gloss paint well-cared-for is gorgeous.

Still, had I the 160K euros available...

Yes, we don't need normal, do we? :) Yes, give me that 160k and I am all matte :)
