My DoPod 838Pro would have been able to do this... although, I could never actually get it to work! :-(

But I DO love my iPhone! :-)

See - these I can read, but none of them seen to be able to make sense of the vCards...

iPhone, and I tried BeeTag, neoreader, 2d sense. To be fair it could be the crappy camera on the iPhone - it might work if I transferred the image manually...

I've found something that can actually read it now :) Quickmark seems to be able to understand the Data Matrix format.

You do both type of codes on Nokia site, QR and Datamatrix. My card is a Datamatrix one.

I can't find a barcode reader that can decode it. I guess Nokia use some propitiatory coding for vCards...

I followed the instructions and got an app called beetagg, which worked, and I was able to get the image at the top of this post recognized with my camera, which brought me to a YouTube video - it worked.

Now I want to see if I can scan in Tomaz' image - I wonder what I'll see?? ;-)

The problem I have is that my so-so iPhone camera takes pics that the reader has problems identifying - it took about 5 pics before I got the first one to work...

So - what is the purpose of this? Is it to save typing in web addresses? Where would you find these images, apart from the three at the beginning of your post?
paterson_si
Jul. 20th, 2009 09:32 pm (UTC)
No, these are barcodes that can save much more information that usual codes. Text and vCards and stuff are just kicks and added fun.

More and more products have such codes on them.

Jul. 20th, 2009 09:32 pm (UTC)
You find them on products to direct you to competition websites and the like. Bit of a gimmick really. TBH if I was going to turn any barcodes into t-shirt designs it would be the Microsoft 3D ones that they use on Xbox discs as they are in colour and look quite cool.
