A post... post.

Believe it or not, I went to church yesterday. No, it wasn't for any high, soul-searching purposes, it was just because Igor's choir was singing during the holy service. And they did a beautiful job. I was happy to be there, listening to them singing. It was the talking part inbetween the songs that somehow annoyed me. Oh, how good it feels to be atheistic. And how tiring to have to listen to that crap for almost an hour. Well, but it was over and there we were off to my brother for some "normal" fun.

Ok, catching up with LJ is done, I will post this, have some dinner and then we're going out to dance a bit. Man, do I need some balance during this weekend. LOL

What church is that? Is it very old? Is that baroque or rococco style?

Ok.... here we go. The church:

And it's baroque - Ljubljana had to be almost completely rebuilt in 1511 after a big earthquake, so the old parts of Ljubljana - we call them The Old City - is mainly baroque.

Oh, you in church! That was really hard to believe! :)

The church looks interesting inside... or maybe I'm just not used to Catholic churches.

Was the "talking part" in Latin or in Slovene? The priests here switch between Old Church Slavonic, the "holy " language that the average Bulgarian no longer understands, and Modern Bulgarian. It is ironic, one of our medieval kings struggled very hard to introduce that church language that was meant to be understood by all Slavs of the time instead of Greek that was then the official language of the Orthodox Church. And now exactly Bulgarians don't understand it because our language has changed so drastically. Oops, once a linguist, always a linguist! :)

It's not that I go to church much on "official" occasions, I prefer to go alone when there is no crowd.

Have a good time dancing! :)

All is done in Slovene here and the only time I generally go to church is in some foreign city when I do tourist stuff. But yesterday...... it was for a noble cause. LOL

Well, at least you didn't have to endure Latin! :)

If the Catholic Church wanted to make people atheists on purpose, it wouldn't be more successful. Well, they can only blame themselves.

Have fun! What a beautiful church! Before there were theaters they used Churches. I don't know if many people know that. It says a lot about church and religion. At least in my head it does...

No, they used churches INSTEAD OF theatres! There were theatres in Ancient Greece before there were any churches. :)
