Wine.

Yes, this has been a very fine and fun weekend. So far, at least. 11th Slovene Wine Festival was taking place in Ljubljana this week and for the past 9-10 years it's a definite must visit thing for us. And, of course, it happened this year as well. Marijana, Robert, Igor and me (Matjaž, who is great fan of the festival, had to skip it because of some health related issues) spent a great deal of Friday there. And enjoyed it. And I will only post kind, decent pictures. Of course. :)

L: On a ciggy break. R: Brothers in law. The men I love the most. :)

L: Experts don't do it like that. LOL I love this picture!!! R: Merry company.

L: How appropriate. R: And we went home. And it was sort of raining.

And, yes, for the fourth year in the row we unanimously decided upon the same "king of the festival". It's "Stari d'Or" - you can also translate it as "The Old Gold", magnificent red wine carefully "crafted" by family Rojac. And year after year we were saying: "Oh, we'll go to their wineyard and get this wonderful wine." And never actually did that. Till today. So Marijana, Robert, Igor and me did a little wine/food Saturday. First the trip to Slovene Istria region at the coast - home of the best red wines in the country. We visited Rojac family and left with 18 bottles.... Old Gold mostly, of course. And then we went to Croatia, to their part of Istria, because we were hungry and Croatian Istria is the place to go if you want to eat good food (with a lot of truffles) and drink good wine. My steak, richly covered with white truffles, was simply divine. And the sweets and their home-made bread and soups and MY OH MY sweets....

Such little pleasures with friends are really the essence. :)

L: Rojac treasures. R: We didn't get Syrah. Can't compete with Stari d'Or. =)

L: Reflections. R: Also my FORM picture for Photo Challenge, but I like it, so here it goes again. :)

********************************

On a not such a high-tones, hedonistic and fun note. I think I am catching a cold. And I don't like it. Well.. "Two tears in the bucket, mother fuck it." I'll survive that, too. LOL

What,a new icon? Did I really see that? Will it still be there tomorrow? I'm SURE I'm perfectly sober, so I probably really saw that icon ;)

I LOVE the "Experts don't do it like that" photo too LOL

What was that delirium tremens thing? *is amused*

Please, PLEASE don't catch a cold, or at least not a bad one (fingers crossed). :)

Yes, a new icon is from an old series of pictures, called "Frutta". LOL

Yes, Igor is a total riot on that picture. He was making fun of a guy who did that. And he wasn't an expert. :)

Delirium Tremens was a commercial for a beer, but it fit perfectly. And cold is still around. A bit, I think. But since I don't want to get sick, I probably won't. It's all in the head. Snot as well. LOL

It's loads of fun. And it's one of the "milestones" of the year... we talk about the whole year until it finally happens. :)

You need to go there, most definitely. But be sure to call them so that they stick around the house when you make it to Gažon. And if you end up buying, it's needs to be Stari d'Or and Renero. But easy on Renero - it's really potent. In all ways imaginable. :)

The Slovenian wine festival sounds like an terrific event. Hope I'll be able to get there next time. I visited the Rojac winery a week ago and what a nice experience that was. I tried the wines for the first time at a Slovenian wine festival in Elsinore, Denmark in jan 2008. Rojacs wines really stood out. For me the top wine was the white blend Stari d'or belo. I have wanted to visit the winery ever since and now it finally became possible. Really great stuff, almost all wines tried were top quality and we tried a lot. The only letdown was the fact that Stari d'or belo 2004 was sold out. Great blog btw.
